We wanted to take a quick moment to let our readers know, that No, we have not deserted you. We have had countless tech problems over the last 2 weeks, that have pretty much rendered us helpless…lol.

We will be back in action next week. All tech problems under control & READY TO ROCK! Thanks for being patient with us during our tech problems. Nothing aggravates me more than tech problems….uuhhgg!

If you tried the update via OTA, and didn’t have such good luck, I suggest using the App Loader in the BlackBerry Desktop Manager. So far, I really have not noticed any difference in function with the OS update, aside from the fact that I had to reinstall most of my 3rd party apps….lol. The biggest difference that I have noticed is the fact that the update seemed to clean up the device memory. I actually have more available memory now, then I did before the install. ( However, that does make me wonder what was removed from the device to make such a difference in available memory.) Before the OS update, I had right around 33,000,000 Bytes & now I have over 46,000,000….hmmm. The other difference is an improvement to the email application. Emails are much easier to read with the HTML update.

Rock On 8300 Owners! The BlackBerry Curve 8300 Series smart phone is RIM’s top selling smart phone for the 3rd quarter! Now, this comes as no surprise to me, as I have been raving about the 8300 series for a while now, but I’m sure their were some that were absolutely floored & disappointed.

WooHoo! I am totally thrilled with the announcement that BlackBerry App World will be offering carrier billing in 2010! This was my only complaint with BB App World. I am not a fan of PayPal & I have made no secret of that fact. The truth of the matter is that there are many people, like myself, that have had experiences with PayPal, that it would be an understatement to say that we were less than satisfied with the service in one way or another. So when I read the announcement that BlackBerry App World will be offering Carrier Billing in 2010, I was very excited! I guess that we will just have to wait & see, but it seems to be on the list of changes for 2010.

The WordPress App for BlackBerry is one of my favorite apps. It’s a Must for any Blogger! The WordPress app is in beta right now, but still works like a charm. I have not had any “bug issues” to speak of, though some have been reported.

Unless you have been living under a rock, you know that mobile security issues have been a “Hot Topic” recently. On Thursday, 10/29/09, BlackBerry security issues reached an entirely new level. The Department of Homeland Security issued a warning about the third party BlackBerry application called “PhoneSnoop”! ( Now, in my opinion, when the DHS steps in & takes notice, we have a problem.)

Mobile Spy, which is a company that makes “Smartphone Spy Software”, has launched “BlackBerry Mobile Spy”! Now, this is frightening on soooo many levels. There has been a fair bit of concern over spyware on any device, smartphone or cellular. In a perfect world, this type of software would be used by companies that want to monitor their employees activities, while using “company issued devices”. And to a certain extent, I’m sure that, that is how it will be used by some. We all know that there are people who would try to use this software in a malicious manner, which is why it is such a scary idea.

RIM has released a list of the BlackBerry devices that will be able to be upgraded to the 5.0 OS. So, did your BlackBerry make the cut? Let’s find out. The devices that were listed are the Tour 9630′s, Curve 8330′s, Storm 9500′s, Bold 9000′s, Curve 8900′s, Curve 8350i’s, and the Pearl Flip 8200 series.

The amount of memory on the device, is what was the deciding factor when it comes down to which devices can support the 5.0 OS. In order for the device to support the 5.0 OS, it must have more than 64MB of memory. So, to those of you who have the memory to support the OS, Congratts & Enjoy!

According to the article in Rolling Stone Magazine,” The new app will allow Tour owners to download 3 live tracks from each of the remaining shows of the bands current Backspacer Tour.” The app will also offer walpapers and some other things, but does not specify exactly what those things will be.
